Dark Water

Digital Art and Editorial Design
From The Crow’s Prophet series

She slowly floats to the surface and opens her eyes, the world visible for the first time since she took her dying breath. The fish circle around her, for they have seen too many to be afraid of ghosts. – Jairus

For several years – under the pen name of Jairus – I have been working on The Crow’s Prophet, a series of digital paintings loosely based on the poetry of Chinese poet Xu Kuan. The series depicts a world where climate change has decimated humans; a future where all that's left are the ghosts of our women mourning the lonely, bleak, yet often beautiful new world that remains long after we are gone.

Dark Water is one of the pieces in the series, included in an upcoming self-published book.
